Mission Statement

The mission of the School is to provide a family environment based on mutual understanding, respect and cooperation. We are committed to fostering independence, joy of learning, academic excellence, social responsibility, as well as developing body, mind and spirit. We encourage students’ sense of wonder and admiration for the world by enhancing their life experiences. We strive to instill global awareness with a sense of compassion, sensitivity, and tolerance. We believe that learning must be integrated and comprehensive while focusing on the uniqueness of the individual child.

Our vision is to help each child reach his or her fullest potential in life by fostering individual liberty, joy of learning, and the humanitarian spirit.

"Free the child's potential, and you will transform him into the world." -- Maria Montessori

Our Philosophy

We believe in and support the responsibility of parents as the prime educators in their child’s life. We believe in the uniqueness of each child and that each child is born with certain unique potentials. We believe that education must begin at birth and that all children are born with a drive to develop, master, and perfect themselves. We view education as an aid to life. Its purpose includes the acquisition of basic skills and knowledge. We believe in accomplishing our goals through the cooperative efforts of the child, parents, and the educators.

The method used at the Montessori School of North Hoffman and Lotus Montessori School follows the philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori. This method is open-ended and designed to fulfill each child’s growth needs. We believe that our environment should be a place of self-discovery where everyone learns how to learn, and everyone is provided with the means and the freedom to become lifelong learners and develop to their full potential. The theories of Jean Piaget, Jerome Bruner, Erik Erikson, and other developmental psychologists support this method of education.

We have no doubt that learning must focus on the individual child. We think learning must be integrated, comprehensive, and based on the reality of the child’s world.
